| Private Pay If the patient has in excess of $1,000,000.00 in income producing assets, the financial pressures of a nursing home are generally able to be met with little if any asset depletion. If the patient has less than $1,000,000.00 (rule of thumb) the costs of a Nursing Home stay can wipe out a life savings. Do not let this happen! It is rarely, if ever, necessary.
